Two experts appointed by the Supreme Court will visit Mullaperiyar site this month to determine if the dam is safe.
The decision to send two members of the five member committee was taken on Monday when the panel met with the lawers representing the two states making representations on their stands and asking it to hear them before submitting its report.
A senior official of the committee said that after visiting Mullaperiyar dam site this month, they will meet again on January to discuss their findings. The dates which are agreeable to the two states will be decided later this week.
The 116 year old dam lies in Idukki district of Kerala, controlled by Tamil Nadu.
